How Can Swelling And Pain On The Finger Be Treated?

I had a hangnail that I finally pulled out but now the tip of my finger is sore and little swollen. It s like there s pressure there but no opening for a release of possible pus. What can I do to cause an opening to allow the release of the pain (pressure/pus)? I d like to avoid going to the doctor for this minor discomfort.

Hello,

You can put your finger in warm water, and in a salt solution, it will get dehydrated, and water moves from your finger to surroundings. You will get some kind of relief with warm water also. Or even you can take a sterile needle and just drain out pus putting an incision which might pain for some time but will subside soon. I appreciate your concern for doing things alone without a doctors help. All these small problems can be managed at home.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
