How Can Swelling In The Ankles And Knees Be Treated?

Tripped and fell hard on my right knee one week ago! Swelled for 48 hrs or so! Iced and have bee getting around good! Woke up this morning with blue discoloration down around my ankle. As the day has gone on its seems to be my more discolored around my lower leg! Not tender to the touch, except of course the brushed area around my knee

Hello,

As per your description, it seems there is internal bleeding under the skin and/or in knee joint. Does swelling is associated with pain and restriction of movements?

Please consult orthopedic doctor for proper examination and investigations. Go for an x-ray of knee joint, it will confirm whether only soft tissue is involved or knee joint is affected.

Only, skin bruises without internal damage does not require any treatment except light dressing with povidone iodine. For pain and swelling, take tablet Diclofenac and Serattiopeptidase combination drug 12 hourly.
