How Can Swelling In The Ankles Be Treated?

My husband has been prescribed by his doctor to take 600 mg. Of allopurinol, he has been taking this med.for 5 days now following all the prescribed way of how to take this med. he developed swelling on his left ankle which made it difficult for him to ambulate,(swelling worse today) is there anything that can help with the swelling other than too see his primary md again? Btw he s taking this med. due to his elevated Uric acid ( 9) & nodules in the 3rd digits of his right foot. Would appreciate recommendations that you can offer thanks

Besides Allopurinol, he needs anti-inflammatory drug such as Indomethacin or Aceclofenic. Consult your physician for prescription.

Also ask him to avoid alcohol and pulses and other protein rich foods.
