How Can Swelling In The Elbow Be Treated?

Had injury to elbow 3 mos ago went to ER and was told that it was miners elbow. Had a lot of pain at sight for quite some time. Now I have no pain but the swelling is still deformed looking and there is obvious fluid on my elbow. What can I expect from going to see my Doctor at my appointment? Possibility of draining the fluid? If so, how is this done?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is possible that your doctor would drain the fluid from the elbow. This would be done under sterile conditions.

This means that the elbow would be cleaned with an anti septic prior to injection.
A local anesthetic is used to help reduce the pain experienced when the fluid is removed and you may be given a course of pain killers as well.

I hope this helps
