Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a slip on ice and had six stitches to my forehead 2 days ago. I now have a swollen eye, near my tear duct. I don t think I did, but may have got the bacitracin ointment in my eye. No Dr can see me today. Could this be because of the head injury? (The cut is near top of my forehead/hairline.
The injury causes inflammatory reactions which are responsible for edema. You got cut in the forehead, edema of which is extended to eyes. However to make sure that further injuries are not there in eyes, please consult an ophthalmologist and rule out it. Apart from topical bacitracin ointment take tablet diclofenac plus serratiopeptidase twelve hourly to fasten the process of healing. You can also apply hot compression to eye edema (NOT on stitches). I hope you didn't have vomiting after fall. If it was there, you need to do CT scan of the brain also.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Hiren Hirpara
