How Can Swelling In The Feet And Ankles Be Treated?

My husband has a swollen foot, ankle and calf. He had a ultrasound today and no clouts. He is on low dose LASIK and our doctor said this swelling is often the result of leaky veins. Anything we can do to help this condition? He is 79. Thank you.

Hello,
In my opinion few additional conditions need to be ruled out in view of ankle swelling.
An echo cardiogram may be done to see for cardiac pumping.
Secondly a urine routine examination and liver function test may be done to see for proteinuria and hypoproteinemia, respectively.
Also estimation of hemoglobin levels should be done to see for anemia.
I find this answer helpful
