Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello, I dropped a 15kg weight on my foot 3 days a go. I went to a&e because of the instant bruise and swelling. They said there was no break. 3 days on and it s still swollen and badly bruised. I can walk on it fine however I have a 10 hour flight in 2 days, what are the best ways of keeping myself comfortable?
You are fortunate that you do not have ant foot bone fractures. The soft tissuecontusion is causing the swelling. The most important treatment for early resolution of the swelling is rest to the foot as much as is possible. If doctor suspects ant infection, he would prescribe antibiotics too. It is good if you could keep the bruised area dressed with an antibiotic ointment like neosporin or Mupirocin ointment. You may continue with the 10 hour flight if it is very necessary, however if possible during the flight try if possible to keep the feet in an elevated position to prevent swelling and discomfort.
