Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Caught a virus that caused me to vomit and loose control of my bowels, now my symptoms are better I am not weak anymore but my gums are swollen and mouth is so sore I cannot eat? It is so frustrating after already not being able to eat for almost five days, now this? Never in 30 years has this occurred, is this normal and how to treat it? Your help is greatly appreciated.
I have gone through your query it seems that you have Viral infection in mouth leading to Gingivostomatits.. It is causing swollen gums and soreness in mouth.. Nothing to worry as the symptoms will gradually subside.. You should consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Oral swab culture and blood tests can help in confirming the cause.. As of now gargle with numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine.. Do cool compresses over the gums.. Take anti-inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen.. Take soft and bland diet.. Chew Vitamin C pellet daily.. Use a soft toothbrush to brush your teeth..
Hope this helps..
Regards..
