How Can Swelling In The Tonsils Indicate?

Hi I have started with symptoms of one swollen tonsil of the right side, it also has white spots on it. I also feel like there is a lump:tightness in my throat. I went to the docs about 2 months ago as I noticed a lymph node in the left hand side of neck - which he said wasn t anything to worry about. I am now really worried that I have cancer of the tonsil

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have swelling in the tonsils. Need not to worry. I would suggest you to do warm saline gargles several times a day and avoid cold beverges. You should keep your head elevated while sleeping. Consult ENT specialist for proper examination. Doctor may order test like swab test and can do physical examination with laryngoscope. Doctor may prescribe antibacterial or antiviral depending upon the diagnosis along with anti inflammatory. Doctor may recommend tonsillectomy. You should avoid eating spicy and heavy food and reduce intake of dairy products .

Hope your concern has been resolved.
