How Can Swelling Of The Palatoglossal Arch Be Treated?

The left side of my palatoglossal arch is larger than my right. It isn t slight, it s very noticeable if you were to look inside my mouth. It isn t painful, either. It s been this way for a few months after I had gotten an icecube pushed into my throat. It very slightly scratched my uvula and made the left side of my arch taller, but I thought it would heal and go back down. Like I said, it s been this way for a couple months and as a singer, I m worried it s causing my voice to be a bit breathy. What should I do? Is there a possible surgery to make the left smaller or the right taller? Is it actually affecting my voice?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Do you have any discomfort? Swelling of posterior pharyngeal wall and arches may be seen in pharyngitis or tonsillitis or acid reflux etc.

Don't worry, use salt water gargling thrice a day for five days.

Avoid cool drinks and frozen water, use Rexidin mouth wash.

Use antibiotics like Amoxiclav.

If symptoms not improved please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
