How Can Swelling On Foot Due To Sting Ray Sting Be Treated?
My daughter was stung by sting ray on top of foot 11 days ago and there's still swelling, discoloration and oozing from puncture site. She's cleaned wound and there's no material she can see left from sting ray blade. She's against innecessary antibiotics but I am wondering about possible infection. what would you recommend?
As per your complain swelling of foot due to being stung by sting ray along with swelling, discoloration and oozing at the sting site seems to be due to infection at the sting site and also the allergic reaction caused by toxic chemical present in the sting has not yet subsided.
I would suggest you to consult an allergist or general physician and get evaluated and a course of antibiotics and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen and topical application of antibiotic and steroid ointment will help. Do cool compresses over the sting site.
Hope this information helps. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Thanks and regards, Dr. Honey Nandwani Arora
