How Can Swelling On The Knee Be Treated?

Well i fell ona hardwooden floor yesterday my knee was really swollen andi could hardly stand on it but after cold ice packs and some time Aspercreme it went down a bit and i can walk but i want to know if i should use hot or cold compresses to continue r educing the swelling Email is YYYY@YYYY

I understand your concern about the situation. Actually in case of a recent injury, trauma ie within 3-4 days, a cold compress is very helpful in reducing the inflammation and pain. Using nsaid painkillers like diclofenac tab and ointment /spray also helps. Also if it is possible in your case, give rest to the knee on an elevated position. It will prevent fluids to accumulate on the knee.

But if one is suffering from chronic pain, hot compress are much helpful.

If the pain persists still after 4-5 days, or the swelling increases in size, or you have trouble walking normally, please visit your physician.
