How Can Swelling On The Left Knee Be Treated?

I fell and landed on my left knee. Got up, no pain, but slightly swollen and bruised. I place ice on knee area. Still no pain, but front/top of knee feels like there is a fluid buildup. Will this dissapate in time, should I wrap/compress knee slightly?

Hello,

The fluid and bruising builds up in the first 24 hrs (which is lowered by applying ice). Then, it gets resorbed (which is when to put on warmth or better, submerging in deep water).

Compression just moves it around a bit, there has not been a lot of benefit from it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
