Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
When my children were babies they recommended numzit for teething. My children are now in their later 40s and I have grandchildren and a great grandchild. She is now teething. Is there a newer product out there for babies that are teething besides numsit? I noticed it is now not recommended for children under 2.
Well, Num-Zit any other pain relievers used in the form of numbing gel should be avoided as it can be harmful and at times fatal for the baby.
To alleviate pain caused due to teething you should give cooled teething rings to the baby as it can help in reducing inflammation and pain. Use a cool washcloth to put packs over the gums. Maintain good oral hygiene. You can also give Acetaminophen if there is a pain. Feed them with cool and bland foods.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Honey Arora
