How Can Temporalis Muscle Spasm Causing Clenching And Head Soreness Be Treated?

My neurologist says i have a spasm in my temporalis muscle from tmj. My problem seems to be clenching, not grinding and i seem to clench even with the nightguard. I have been wearing a nightguard for two weeks and felt relief the first week. Now the side of my head is still very sore. How long can I expect for it to take to heal and what else can I do

Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query.
The spasm in the temporalis muscle is nothing but a protective co contraction secondary to the clenching of the teeth. Yes the soft splints do work and effective. But my suggestion is, till you stop clenching the problem will not be solved. so stop clenching your teeth. For the pain and spasm, you can take an analagesic with a muscle relaxant llike tablet Flexon MR. You can give hot fomentation over the muscle.
I hope my answer will help you, take care.
