Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello Dr, i am 28yrs old male my question a have is that, i would like to know if testicular atrophy with out varicoceles can cause poor sperm production or infertility in men and how this testicular atrophy and poor sperm production quality can be treated.
Thanks for your question on Healthcare Magic. Yes, besides vericocele, poor blood supply to testes, thrombosis of testicular veins, testicular injury, chronic testicular infection (orchitis) etc can cause testicular atrophy. So better to get done ultrasound examination of scrotum to rule out these causes. Treatment depends on causes. Infection needs antibiotics. It is very difficult to predict prognosis and improvement after treatment. Honestly speaking, there are very less chances of recovery. Once a testicular atrophy, patient remains as it is through out the life. Patient also have low sperm count for whole life. Hope I have solved your query. I will be happy to help you further. Wish you good health. Thanks.
