How Can Throat Cancer Be Treated?

My 88 year old uncle has been diagnosed with T2 Squamous Cell Cancer of left tonsil and extending into the soft palate. He is fragile, 115 pounds, Parkinson s They have suggested combination therapy of Radiation and Chemotherapy. He has told me he doesn t want chemotherapy due to side effects. How many radiation treatments would he need and is it truly beneficial for him. Also, side effects

I can understand your concern.
Since his soft palate is involved, surgery is contraindicated.
So combination chemotherapy and radiotherapy are the best treatment for him.
Isolated radiotherapy can be tried but results are not very much positive.
Combined chemo radiation have definitely better results than isolated radiotherapy.
They will reduce the tumour size and thus symptoms are relieved.
So try to convince him for combined chemo radiation for better outcomes.
