How Can Throat Infection In A Child Be Treated?

Mt son is 4.5 years old and has a throat infection. I got Aug DDS syrup but my doctor is not available to guide on dosage and period of medicine administration ... can u please assist? He weighs around 12 Kgs. Has a little fever for which we have given him Meftal or Crocin time to time.. Pls advice. Also if something else needs to be given together like Vizilac to control stools?

Thank you for your query.
Throat Infection can be due to a virus or bacteria.
*is he complaining of throat pain?
*do you see any redness or white patches in the back of throat.
*is he eating and drinking normally?
*how high is his fever?
*how is his energy level?
*how long has he had these symptoms?

Antibiotics (augmentin) helps only in bacterial infection.

If you do notice red spots in his throat and he is having persistent fever (more than 101 f) for more than 48 hrs, then he will need antibiotics.
For 12 kg, you may give 3 ml (of augmentin dds) twice a day for 7 days.
Administer right after meals. Give vizylac (2.5 ml) once a day atleast 3 hrs after/before antibiotics.

Keep him well hydrated with frequent sips of warm fluids.
