How Can Thyroid Dysfunction Be Treated?

I had radioactive iodine for hyrothyroidism in 1981. I started having problems and was checked by my doctor who told me I had been given too much and my thyroid gland was dead and would never work again. Do they every come back to life? A doctor told me recently that they can start working again.

Hi,

It should not be assumed that your thyroid gland is dead without undertaking certain tests and examination.

You can get your blood checked for thyroid profile and undergo a clinical examination of the gland, which would tell about the anatomical and functional status of the thyroid gland.

Accordingly, your doctor can advise what needs to be done next for appropriate management.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
