How Can Thyroid Dysfunction Be Treated?

I have a thyroid problem? My doctor had me on Levothyroxine. I couldn`t take it. I don’t want to gain weight. Which would be better to take? Armour Thyroid or Naturethyroid? I want to look healthy again. Don’t want my hair to look dry and brittle or skin to be dry. Can you help?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Getting the thyroid adjusted would have the weight regulated and probably have the skin become normal.

Any thyroid preparation is likely to both need adjustment and to work about the same when it is at the right level.

I have had good results with Armour thyroid drug also it has not cross-reacted with Levothyroxine drug.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
