Hey there! From my childhood, until now I have always been diagnosed with tinea versicolor. It comes often to my skin when I take a shower and use a soap to wash my body. I tried many medications and anti fungul creams, but they didn t work properly. Any solutions?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Tinea versicolor may be treated with an application of topical antifungals in the area of the skin affected or a course of oral antifungals. They are effective to control the infection.

However, visit ER & get examined & treated at the earliest.

Use shampoo Selsun (Selenium sulfide), Ketoconazole creams or gels for local application, a course of oral fluconazole. Take medicines always under your local treating doctor.

You are suggested to get all your bedding & clothing washed. Do not share your toiletries. Take care of your hygiene, take regular showers.

Cut on your sugar intake, avoid alcohol or addictions if any.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
