How Can Tingling Sensation And Pain In The Buttocks Be Treated?
I have a titanium rod attached to my femur about 2 years ago. This rod is about 2 inches longer than my femur and it sticks out of above the top of my femur, into my buttocks. I am experiencing tingling pain on my femur and also server pain on my buttocks especially when I sit. Is there anything I can do to live a pain free life?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Tingling in buttock is mostly caused by peripheral nerve damage. There are many causes of peripheral nerve damage such as diabetes, chronic kidneydisease, leprosy, vertebral compression, vasculitis, shingles and hypothyroidism etc. At this point you should Take rest, Avoid prolonged sitting, take Methylcobalamin once daily per oral for 3 months, Gabapentin thrice daily per oral for 15 days. Consult a physiotherapist. Physiotherapist will suggest exercise for relieving such pain. If there is no improvement you should doMRI of spine and blood sugar (F & PP).
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
