How Can Tingling Sensation In The Extremities Be Managed While On Topamax?

Currently on Topamax, 125mg 2xD. Male, 205lb. Causing tingling (severe) in extremities. What can I do to relieve the symptoms? I m on the Topamax for epilepsy so not sure I can exactly go off of it. Haven t been able to get a hold of a neurologist to see if I can adjust the dosage.

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Actually Topamax is a pretty good treatment for these symptoms.

The question would be if the symptoms are from the topamax. If they are, there are a lot of other medicines that can be used instead.

BUT going off of any anti-epileptic suddenly is likely to cause very bad seizures.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Matt Wachsman
