How Can Tinnitus And Earache Be Treated?
I suffered a perforated eardrum back on Jan 8, it was from a hit to my ear. I have seen medical doctor, ENT and audiologist. the membrane has repaired it self last week, but I am having ringing and ear pain. the ENT says its TMJ , saw a dentist Friday and he said no its not TMJ, I am at a loss trying to get help for the ear pain, it is mild at times and other times it wakes me up in the middle of the night hurting so terrible it cause me to be nauseous and I have ringing off and on.

Tinnitus is a common issue and most causes are benign and temporary. However it this lasts for a longer period then it should be evaluated.
Tinnitus can occur due to causes like a chronic ear infection, perforated eardrum, Eustachian tube dysfunction, Meniere's disease, TMJ disorders, Acoustic Neuroma etc.
Tinnitus is not a disease in itself but it is a symptom that indicates that there is some underlying illness.
I would suggest you consult an Otolaryngologist and get evaluated and a thorough clinical evaluation and investigations like Audiometry, X-Ray MRI can help in diagnosis and treatment can be done accordingly.
In case if ringing does not resolve then you can be advised medicines like Tricyclic Anti-depressant like Amitryptiline, anti-anxiety medication like Alprazolam, as well as Multivitamin supplements can be advised.
