Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I believe I have tonsillitis. according to a fellow counselor. I am wondering ! WHAT thee actual symptoms I have ignored it for a while. I dislike antibiotics etc What would happen if I continued to ignore it? I do have insurance, but truly dislike Doc s and clinics, as I have much better things to do with my limited time. Thank u
Well, in most cases it won’t lead to some serious or life-threatening consequences. However, it may cause prolonged pain and some other complications such as abscess or autoimmune reactions in other parts of body. So, you should take antibiotics no matter you don’t have insurance. Antibiotics such as Amoxicillin or Ciprofloxacin are not expensive as well. Also, it would be good to do swab test to see if this is streptococcal infection or some other bacteria causing it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein
