How Can Tonsillitis Be Treated?

I am having my tonsils out in a few weeks. I am 58 and take Wellbutrin (generic) 150m twice a day. How will I be able to swallow these pills? They are pretty big. I can t NOT take them. I don t want to have withdrawals while I m recuperating. Is there a liquid form?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

For tonsillitis you need to prescribe the decongestant and antibiotic course for 5 to 7 days. Avoid excess spicy foods. Salt water gargle done with warm water for 3 times a day. Drink more water. Vitamin C lozenges are useful.

If improvement is not seen then throat swab taken and culture done. Consult otorhinolaryngologist for examination and further work-up accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Parth Goswami
