How Can Tooth Infection Caused After Insertion Of Spacer Be Treated?

Hello, this question is about my 5 year old daughter. Several weeks ago she had a spacer put in by her dentist to help keep her adult teeth coming in in the right places. A couple of days ago she started complaining about pain where it is. I felt and looked where she was saying the pain was but all I felt or could see was her 5 year molars growing in. So I figured it was because of the tooth growing in. About 3 days later I noticed that she had a knot on her lower right jaw that is sore to touch, and then noticed that the tooth that had the spacer on it is infected. It s the holiday Thankgiving and I m just wondering if I need to take her to the E.R. Or wait until Friday to try to get her in to see her dentist?

HI,

If the pain is not severe, she needs to be seen by her dentist. If the spacer is infected, then it might need to be taken out. You may only go to the ER if she’s in severe pain now.

I wish ou and your daughter well.
