Hi I am having a flair up with my ulcerative colitis my doctor have had me on Uceris for about 2 years one nurse assistant is trying to take me off this med because it was only to be used for 8 weeks. I stopped taking it last month and now can t get back under control. She did prescribe something to control diaharria but its not working she just sent a prescription for an antibiotic in which I was taking an antibiotic for the past 10 day for a cold. Is there any other med to control colitis. I ws taking asocal some years ago.
Ulcerative Colitis is treated with antibiotics, steroid, immunomodulators, and Immunosuppressants. Until examination is done, it is difficult to say what it is. Need to be examined by colonoscopy and biopsy.
Treats with above drugs after remission, needs to maintain the correct dose. Please consult your gastroenterologist so that he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Penchila Prasad Kandikattu
