Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Urinary Incontinence And Swelling In The Legs Be Treated?
72 year old male - developed bladder infection 6 weeks ago. Doctor prescribed Ciproflaxin. Have had occasional incontinence since. Also have weakness in legs with occasional swelling which seems to be getting better since being off medicine except at end of day. Loss of appetite.
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
It is important to investigate the cause of his bladder incontinence. At his age, there is a chance that he may have developed benign prostatic hyperplasia.
I would advise him to get an Ultrasound done. Also, the weakness in his legs can be due to nerve compression.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Nazma.Amman
