How Can Urinary Retention Be Treated?

Hi, My daughter told two of her doctors twice in the last 2 months that she cannot empty her bladder with the medications that shes on. they only responded that yes four of your medications can cause that they didn t do anything about it. She also brought this up twice to them 6 months ago. Now she tells me she has a distended bladder. They have not attempted to change medications or be concerned, in fact , added an additional medication that can also cause that???? Every medical site I ve checked tell me that her doctors should be concerned and at least try to alter medications to avoid that side effect ?

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

Yes, agree, if the medication is causing intolerable side effects then it can be changed if possible.

In some cases there are no alternatives that can work as effectively or the alternatives may have similar or worse possible side effects.
She may need a second opinion if she is not getting a favorable response from her doctors.

I hope this helps
