Hi,

Growth of fibroids depends from the level of female hormone or estrogen. But as the women go near age 50 levels of estrogen low and fibroids stop it's growth and shrink. Hence as you are near age 50 or near menopause you haven't chances for a big growth.

But you can discuss with your follow gynecologist for a therapy like GNRH agonist like Leupron to shrink fibroids, but use of it cause many side effects because it stop periods.

Hence if you haven't excess vaginal bleeding, abdominal pain with/or abdominal discomfort and other issue caused from fibroids, better wait until you will go to menopause and it will shrink by itself.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
