Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been diagnosed with fibroids which have produced heavier than normal bleeding and moderate to severe pain. I am 54 and have been taking birth control pills for many years due to a history of endometriosis and fibroids. What treatment options do I have if I cannot manage the symptoms?
Hi, I think you can stop the medicine now and observe if you are having the problem now also or not. Generally the pain and bleeding resolves after menopause. So, if you have attained menopause, your problems will not be there. If it is still there or the fibroid is large in size, you can go for a surgery for fibroids and endometriosis both. You can opt for total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingoophorectomy. It will take care of both the diseases.
