General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. I understand your concern. Yeast infection is a fungal infection of genitals. Most of the times local anti fungal ointments/ vaginal pessaries can manage such infection in early stages. But as the infection goes on over long time ... - Need of oral anti fungal medicines is needed... that too medication taken by both sex partners at a same time for the length of period as suggested by treating doctor is advisable/ avoiding sex till cure is mandatory. - Genital hygiene & cleanliness of undergarments is of utmost importance. -Preventive , prolonged use of vaginal pessaries helps in total irradiation of the infection. -Treatment of HIV with specific drugs & antioxidants should be continued under expert guidance. Thanks.
