Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
How Can Vaginal Spotting After Insertion Of An IUD Be Stopped?
I just recently had an IUD put in, about a month ago now. And I know spotting is a side effect but mine has been more like light to moderate and every single day since the IUD was put in. It has just a become very irratating and costly so I was looking in to trying shepherds purse to help slow or stop the bleeding. Would you recommend that or no?
It is a very common complain to bleed after IUD insertion. The side effects of the device are irregular bleeding, spotting, breakthrough bleeding. It will stop in 1-3 months after the body system has adjusted with the hormonal changes due to the insertion of the device.
I don't think Shepherd purse will help. However, if you are too uncomfortable with the IUD you can talk to your gynae & get it removed. You can use any other contraception method.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
