Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am 39 and I been with my husband for 22 years now I have a problem where I get yeast infection after intercoarse. It s only unprotected sex where I m allergic to his sperm. I take Otc and Diflucan on hand. I get them every month. Please help me this is miserable and messing up our sex life. How can I stop this from happening?
I understand your concern. Yeast bacteria are normally found in the vagina, but when their number outgrows the good bacteria, then an infection ensues There is a number of reasons you might be getting repeated yeast infections. Besides antibiotic use, a lowered immunity, poor eating habits, stress and lack of sleep are known to be very common causes. So a change in lifestyle and diet might very well resolve this problem. If you think your lifestyle does not need any changes, diabetes and hormonal imbalance are also very important factors that need to be considered in repeated yeast infections. A visit to the doctor and some tests will clarify this. Lastly, while vaginal yeast infections are not considered sexually transmitted diseases, they can be spread by sex.
Wishing you all the best.
