Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been dealing with poor balance and dizziness for over 2 weeks. I went to the doctor and was checked for heart but no problems although I did check with my cardiologist who suggested it was vertigo. He gave me an anti dizzy medication however still wobbly. I have had constant ringing in my ears for years but no balance problems. Now I am getting concerned as the medication makes me very drowsy and I am just not myself.....very nervous, anxious and stressed. I am now 75 and have been pretty active up to now. Help.
Sorry to hear about your problem, as it may be quite distressing. Dizziness with balance problem may be caused by disease of the inner ear, or uncommonly by brain disorders. If you have ringing and decreased hearing this may be more related to the inner ear (vestibular disorders). I would suggest to see an ENT specialist for proper assessment. If he finds no cause in the ears, we may need a scan to know exactly about it.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mahboob Ur Rahman, General & Family Physician
