How Can Vertigo Be Treated While Suffering From Hyperthyroidism?

I have hyperthyroidism and I am taking metnathazole and having issues with dizziness and possible vertigo, want to know what I can do about this and also what type of dosage would you recommend being I am on a two day right now 12hour entervals. Thank you very much

Hello, Thanks for the query.
As regards the treatment of hyperthyroidism with methimazole, dosage can be once a day or 2 to 3 divided doses. If the dose is more (30 to 40 mg which may be needed initially in severe hyperthyroidism), then it is given in divided doses. If maintenance dose is there which may be given once a day.
If dizziness or vertigo are troublesome then it is better to consult your local doctor or an ENT specialist and initiate specific treatment.
Treatment with Methimazole is usually given for 18 months to 24 months, then stopped. In many cases remission occurs and may remain for long time. But if hyperactivity recurrs, then either surgery of radio active iodine are other treatments considered. Thanks.
