Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I contacted a virus about 6 weeks ago...I have tried everything from daily netti pot use, allegra, steroidal nasal sprays and holistic supplements. After 3 weeks I went to my Primary care doctor and he put me on Augementin for 10 days...I have been off of the Augementin for almost 4 weeks. At around the time I started on the Augmentin, I started having vertigo. This has been going on now for over 4 weeks...I feel like I am losing my mind...I am a 61 year old healthy female who does not smoke or drink excessively. I try to exercise (at least power walk) every day but have not been able to do so for the past 4 weeks due to the vertigo...I was researching to see if maybe a round of steroids would help??
Maybe a case of BPPV. You need to attend an ENT specialist to rule out that. You can take betahistine to reduce symptoms to some extent. To start with betahistine thrice daily will be sufficient for a week trial.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
