General & Family Physician, Dr. Prashant's Response
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Loose stool is quite common in children under 5 years. If I were your treating physician, I would prescribe syrup zinc (along with other medicine you are taking) and ORS powder.
As a physician, my biggest fear in patient with loose stool is DEHYDRATION. So, give such patients ORS solution every time loose stool is passed so that he/she doesn't have dehydration.
Loose stool doesn't go away in one day. Take your medicine daily, keep hyderated and he/she will be fine.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Prashant
