General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Most probably it could be due to severe acid reflux. As a first line management, you can take antacids like omeprazole or pantoprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a gastroenterologist and plan for an endoscopy to rule out possibilities like a hiatus hernia. Avoid spicy foods to prevent recurrence of symptoms.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
