Hi,

Both Prozac and Citalopram are antidepressant medications that can affect the balance and coordination of some individuals. In rare cases, antidepressants can worsen symptoms of Ménière’s disease, including vertigo and balance issues.

If your wife's balance problems have worsened since switching to Citalopram, it is important to speak to her healthcare provider about the possibility of switching to a different medication or adjusting the dosage. Your wife may also benefit from seeing a physical therapist who specializes in balance training exercises to help improve her balance and reduce the risk of falls.

In addition to medication and physical therapy, lifestyle changes such as reducing caffeine intake, limiting salt intake, and avoiding triggers for Ménière's disease, such as stress and alcohol, may also be helpful. It is important to work closely with your wife's healthcare provider to determine the best course of treatment for her individual needs.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Priyanka, General & Family Physician
