Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a diabetic 53 year old male and have been diabetic since November 2006. I was diagnosed with zoon s balanitis in June 2015 and given Trimovate cream. The zoon s balanitis did not clear up so I approached a clinic on the internet and was prescribed a course of 28 capsules of Flucloxacillin 500mg. I feel a lot better but with my experience of diabetes (and that things take a lot longer to heal up) I feel I need a further course of Flucloxacillin 500mg. I also need some cream beginning with the letter E (the name escapes me). Would you prescribe this course of treatment?
It is important to get the proper possible etiology of the balanitis. The commonest cause of failure to treatment could be an inappropriate diagnosis, or poor treatment.
It is important to know that some of the treatment could require long durations of treatments, while some patients take them only for relatively short durations of time. It might be necessary to consult a dermatologist or venerologist. In case your sexual partner has not consulted yet, it might be necessary for her to consult for review.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ivan R. Rommstein,
General Surgeon
