How Dangerous Is Heart Murmur In Mother And Baby At 32 Weeks?

My daughter is 32 weeks pregnant. For the past couple of weeks, she has been experiencing shortness of breath, chest/rib pain and feeling really tired. Yesterday it was discovered she has a heart murmur. She has never had cardiac problems up to now. She was told to go home and "just lay around and do nothing" until an echo can be done next week to determine how strong her heart is at this time. How dangerous is this condition to her and the baby?

Hi,

Get an echo test done to rule out any structural heart defects and pumping action of heart. If there is any defects the pregnancy will be at risk and close monitoring is required. Consult your gynecologist after getting the echo done.

Hope I have answered your query.
