Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am postmenopausal and have a pituitary gland adenoma that was diagnosed over 10 years ago. I have been taking Carbigoline 0.25mg twice a week since the diagnosis. How does this effect my menopausal symptoms and my level of Follical Stimulating Hormone?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
As per your description it seems that you are taking cabergoline prolactinoma. It does not affect your FSH ( follicle stimulating hormones). However it can cause menstrual problems like intermenstrual bleeds and oligomenorrhea. Menopause may be delayed while you are on cabergolline.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
