Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What is oxycodone HCl 10 mg pills made of how do they work, also by taking 2 10mg pills, would that be like taking 1 20mg pill? My Dr. Prescribed 20mg but the RX only had 10mg & told me to take 2 every 6 hours. Is this med. As good as I contain? Thanks. CPM YYYY@YYYY
Oxycodone belongs to a class of drugs called opioid agonists. It is similar to a group of natural substances in the brain called endorphins. These substances work to decrease the pain messages that your body sends to your brain. By mimicking these substances, oxycodone decreases the amount of pain your brain thinks you’re having. The adult dosage that has been recommended is in the range from 5 mg to 15 mg taken every 4 – 6 hours.
Hence, you can take 10 mg at 6-hour intervals, and not exceeding 20 mg as prescribed by your doctor. Kindly follow-up with your doctor as advised.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran S,
General & Family Physician
