I am nearsighted and recently had a new eye exam. My eyes have changed enough that my previous prescription became too strong, so my new prescription is weaker . The dr. explained that as we age, our focusing becomes less agile, so when it is harder for me to focus between distance and up close. How does that make my nearsightedness weaker now, than before? My eye sight hasn t improved...
it is presbyopia. generally after 45 person looses flexibility of zonule and lens loose ability to change shape so power according to requirement. this is to be compensated with plus power and with further advance of age the power is to be reviewed maximum it can be plus 3.5. this is the accommodation power. further increase of power only magnifies.
yes the doctor is right. with advancement of age the accommodation become weekerpower for near vision is to be reviewed. finally the power which you accept and comfortable should be given to you. your eye sight will not improve but augmented by power in specs.
