Hello Doctor...i always have a craving of eating raw rice and also eats daily. I want to know whats are its harmful effects as i am getting hair on my chin anf also the one on my upper lips are getting dark and hard . What should i do to get them right .
Eating raw rice can be harmful in the following ways:
1. Indigestion: Raw rice has cellulose coating which is very difficult to digest in human beings. Protein and other nutrients can't be absorbed. When you cook it, cellulose coating is damaged, thus better absorption of nutrients. 2. Since, raw rice might contain pesticide residue 'lectin' which may cause food poisoning. 3. Risk of infection: Bacillus cereus is commonly found on a number of uncooked foods including raw rice.
The only way to stop eating raw rice is to motivate yourself, to not to do so. If you find it too hard, you may visit a psychiatrist who would be able to give you some simple tips that would enable you to avoid doing so.
