How Does One Treat Ankle Swelling?

hi this is regarding my moms, ankle swelling problem....she is 52 yrs old....she has this problem since few months....already consulting with some doc...bt not getting any results.......we are looking out for second openion ......we stays at kandivali mumbai....67....can u help me in this regard?

Hello,

There are various reasons for ankle swelling the general reasons include:
-High blood pressure
-Diabetes
-Heart failure
-Hypothyroidism
-Electrolyte imbalance
The local reason include:
-Infection at joint
-Arthritis
-Rheumatoid arthritis
-Gout
To evaluate all this you should have a complete blood investigation including X-ray of affected part and cardiac evaluation. If swelling is severe then there are some preparations known as water pills. You can have them on prescription.
