Thanks for contacting with your health concern
1. As the person concerned is a diagnosed case thus and refused treatment modalities thus following has to be understood to know the outcome:
i.
Osteomyelitis is either hematogenous [blood] or by infection [bacterial invasion], whereas through hematogenous route mostly the causative organism is single [
Staphylococcus aureus] whereas in case of infection: a variety of multidrug-resistant bacteria are the cause of concern, so whatever the cause initial treatment in given cases is:
- culture-specific antibiotics
- aggressive debridement
- muscle flaps and bone graft, and because the person has refused initial treatment thus it has resulted in the
bone infection to persist resulting in the outcome, i.e.
- infection might have spread to the blood, overlying skin or nearby joints
- further weakening of the bones making them more fragile.
- limited movement(s) of nearby joints or limb, and if he continues to refuse the treatment it might result in
amputation or removal of part or of all the limb.
PS. he has to understand the importance of goals of treatment and difficulties that may persist if ignoring the medical therapy or surgical intervention.
