Hi, Whats your age? And what are the diabetic medications you are taking? You can continue taking shelcal 500 tablet as advised.
The soaring pain in your finger joints can be due to osteophytes(new bone formation in joint spaces)which occurs as a complication in long standing diabetics. Moreover ,you might experience pain due to diabetic neuropathy.
So,i suggest you to get an x-ray of bilateral hands and knee joints done,
Take a joint mobilizer containing diacerin and glucosamine, along with a nerve supplement containing methylcobalamine.
